Collaboration in Action Program

The Louisiana State University System, in partnership with Our Lady of the Lake Health (OLOL) through the LSU Agricultural and Mechanical College Campus, is proud to announce a second Collaboration in Action (CAP) research initiative. Generously supported by our Championship Partner, OLOL, this program aims to advance research in key priority areas, including Cardiovascular Disease and Care, Oncology, Trauma and Neuroscience, Chronic Respiratory Disease, Sports Medicine and Performance, and Medical Data Science.

Scope and Funding

  • The Research Focus Areas for this funding cycle include the following:
    • Cardiovascular Disease and Care
    • Trauma and Neuroscience
    • Sports Medicine and Performance
    • Oncology
    • Chronic Respiratory Diseases
    • Medical Data Science
  • Funding of $8.4M is allocated over the next five years to advance creative and collaborative research projects in Priority Areas.
  • CAP-2026 competition will fund up to six projects per year with budgets not to exceed $250,000 per year per award.
  • Future funding will be based upon evaluation of progress for projects funded under this RFP as well as likelihood of additional federal funding.
  • Research projects specifically proposed in this CAP-2026 competition cannot be concurrently funded by another source.
  • In addition to quarterly updates, an Annual Progress Report is due on January 1, 2026 and a presentation at the OLOL Research Day (held annually in Spring), CAP Annual Meeting (held annually in December) is required to demonstrate research progress and effective and promising results. Specific meeting dates will be forwarded to announced as they are finalized.

Eligibility

Proposal teams must be led by a Principal Investigator(s) holding a full-time faculty appointment at an institution within the LSU System. Research teams that include at least one collaborator who is an Our Lady of the Lake Health physician or physician scientist will be considered highly responsive to this RFP.

Deadlines: 

  • All applications require a letter of intent due by 11:59 PM CST, August 1, 2025
  • Full proposals due by 11:59 PM CST, September 15, 2025
